Sponsor a Wild Horse

"For six years I photographed these horses when they were living wild. I  witnessed their peaceful life and family bonds. I photographed their round up and had my heart broken looking at  364 horses in holding pens “sorted"  by age & sex, tagged with numbers and separated from their family bands. Some died in the round up, some were auctioned off, some were sent on the "adoption pipeline" or went directly to long term holding (or worse)...   the lucky ones were re-released - but without their families.  

In the eleventh hour, before these horses were shipped out of Idaho,  Silent Voices Equine Rescue sponsored The Wild Horse Project and we found a way to rescue 21 horses. Ten healthy foals were born in spring of 2010, increasing the herd to 31.  When I look in the eyes of these horses and remember them living free, I vow to do everything in my power to get them to a safe place, where they can live out their lives in relative freedom.”   Elissa Kline
