On June 14th, 2008 the “Godmothers” of “SILENT VOICES EQUINE RESCUE” came into our lives.
Betts Simon (aka “Betty”) funded a project of immense proportion by donating the money to purchase a herd of twenty registered American Paint Mares along with five of their fillies who were scheduled to be shipped to slaughter across the border on July 1st, 2008.
Skip and Tami Kammer and Doro Lohmann began nurturing them back to health at the Kammer residence and the next four months became an intense and magical experience.
Doro led the training process and the mares created a partnership without the implementation of fear or dominance.
Betts, Skip, Tami and Doro took these noble horses into their lives and hearts and guided them towards a better place in our world.
We greatly miss Rosie, Betty and Peaches who we were not able to save.
And we greatly welcome five babies born in the spring of 2009 into their new families.
It has been a privilege and honor to be a part of their sisterhood and we are grateful to still have them on this earth…
